VCFS UNCENSORED x POF: THE DOCUMENTARY
WELCOME TO VCFS UNCENSORED.
The Vogue Charity Fashion Show’s first ever documentary is being filmed alongside a student run business known as the Politics of Fashion! Spearheaded by Celine Petrossi and Mikayla Bergamin, the documentary series will be an extension of the virtual VCFS and provide an in-depth look at what happens behind the production and preparations of Canada’s largest student run fashion show.
POF, short for Politics of Fashion is an online platform that celebrates the interconnection and overlap between politics and fashion. The mission at POF is to celebrate the many realms of fashion and the way it’s heavily influenced by the overarching politics that surround us everyday. This is done through the making of clothing, online discussions, content creation, and documentary series. Among celebrating equality, representation and sustainability, POF strongly supports philanthropy, much like VCFS. Just a few months back, POF created and launched a t-shirt in support of the BLM movement and donated all the profits made from t-shirt sales directly to the BLM organization.
Alongside trying to be as philanthropic as possible, POF is a platform that works to challenge our understanding of fashion. That means challenging who can be seen wearing what, the art of street wear, high fashion and even how things are paired together. Much like VCFS, POF believes in the limitless potential of fashion and the power it has in uniting people from all over. The hope for POF is that it will continue to expand into an educational platform, alongside a retail company that creates sustainable clothing that celebrates the art and science of both fashion and politics.
Because POF and VCFS share a similar love for the arts and for philanthropy, we thought this collaboration would be a great opportunity for VCFS to collaborate with another student-run platform and dive into shared interests. This is a great opportunity for dual-exposure and fostering relationships. As well, a lovely opportunity to work together throughout the duration of the entire year and put out something that celebrates students supporting students.
A message from the VCFS 2020 Creative Team regarding the documentary series:
VCFS has decided to take our show online! Although we really wanted to celebrate this event with everyone in person, it turned out to not be feasible this year. With ever-changing social distancing restrictions, we decided that in order to best support our charity and keep everyone safe, our efforts would be best spent developing an online show. This decision was not made lightly, and all of our team is working incredibly hard to create a one of a kind online experience! We are confident in our ability to maintain the creativity of the show while showcasing our very talented cast and crew! As some of you may have heard, VCFS is teaming up with an organization known as the Politics of Fashion (POF) to film a docuseries. This project, a wonderful initiative spearheaded by our Press and Media team and the co-founders of POF, will give viewers an inside look at what goes on behind-the-scenes of VCFS. Through an examination of our history as well as our current endeavours, our organization will be showcased in a way like never before before. The show and the docuseries will differ significantly in terms of their content, but pay attention to both as you won’t want to miss either project! Thank you for all your support thus far. Enjoy!
On behalf of the entire documentary series team, we would like to thank our cast/crew and the VCFS following for the endless support thus far! We hope this docuseries illuminates the essence of who we are, why we do what we do, and who we want to become.
Episode 1 is officially live on our Instagram, Facebook and Youtube channel. Enjoy!
More to come very soon. Stay tuned!
Until then,
Mikayla Bergamin // Press and Media Editor
