VCFS MAKEUP AND HAIR: HALLOWEEN CHALLENGE
Each year, one of VCFS’ most important traditions, that which embodies and captures the essence of each year’s theme, are the photoshoots. Behind those photoshoots are a group of talented and hardworking students that work together to bring each scene to life - model by model, look by look, picture by picture. With the release of each photoshoot, we are that much closer to our final performance.
Unfortunately, the behind the scenes footage of our photoshoots isn’t always shown, and therefore, the hardworking VCFS makeup and hair artists often go unseen. However, the importance of their role on our team can’t be stressed enough! Without our makeup artists and hair stylists, some of VCFS’ most iconic looks wouldn’t exist. Each year, the makeup artists use their talent and creativity to create bold, beautiful and daring looks that challenge the politics of fashion. Their contributions to our team are immense and we are so thrilled to welcome aboard the 2020/2021 makeup and hair team! Lead by Adam Oaknine, this year’s MUAH team has and will continue to deliver audacious looks as we dive deeper into CONVERGENCE.
Not that 2020 isn’t freaky enough already, but here are some VCFS x Halloween looks created by our incredible artists that may help inspire some of your own looks this season!
Without further adieu, introducing our 2020/ 2021 Makeup and Hair Team:

Brenda Silbergleit
Hi everyone! My name is Brenda and I’m a third year politics student. This is my second year on the makeup team for VCFS. I originally joined to meet new people and try out being part of a creative community at Queen’s. I’m back this year though because I appreciate the chance to push my artistry while I am surrounded by countless incredible creative people. Every time I come to VCFS I am inspired to try new things, learn new skills, and overall keep moving outside of my comfort zone. I am so excited for all of you to see all the amazing things we’re working on this year!
Logan Clancy
Hey I’m Logan Clancy! I’m a 3rd Year Geology Specialization student. I was a part of VCFS last year & absolutely loved the open, supportive, creative and safe space every event created! I was drawn to vogue initially because I loved the charity aspect & my housemates raved about how amazing the show was that they saw in first year!!
Maddy Toker
Hello! My name is Maddy and I am a second year student majoring in Life Sciences. This is my second year as a makeup artist for VCFS and I loved it so much the first time, I had to be part of it again! It is so inspiring to be surrounded by the incredibly creative individuals in VCFS who all have the same goal of supporting a local charity while putting on a fantastic production. Although we are physically distant now, it feels as though the community is still working close together. Faced with the challenges of this year, the incredible content that has been showcased so far exemplifies how creative and adaptive the VCFS community is. I am thrilled to be part of Vogue again, and I can’t wait for what’s in store!!

Nina Nissan
Hi! I’m Nina Nissan and i’m a fifth year concurrent education student. I joined vogue because I wanted to take all my self taught makeup skills and apply them to something exciting and inclusive. Vogue allows me to be extremely creative and challenges me to be quick and efficient which I love. Vogue is a great step into my future career as a teacher but also as a creative personality!
Sania Sahi
Hey! My name is Sania Sahi and I am in my third year of Life Science. Ever since I was younger, I was also an artistic person and love to paint and draw. Soon after, I started getting into makeup and I fell in love since I realized that its another form of art!
The reason I was to join VCFS was to have an outlet where I can be creative and to work with a team that I know I will learn so much from. Although this is my first year with VCFS, I love the creative and accepting environment and am very excited to see what we will put out this year!
Maddy Smith
Hey there! My name is Maddy Smith and I’m a second year Media and Performance Production student. I joined VCFS as a way to meet other creative students during these weird times, as well as to learn from my peers and improve my makeup skills. I feel so fortunate to be a part of such a talented and supportive team!
Katie Bell
My name is Katie Bell and I’m in my third year of concurrent education. I wanted to join VCFS because I’m OBSESSED with makeup and I love that I can still be a part of a club, especially a club with a mission as special as VCFS’, even during the pandemic!
Elise Acciaccafferi
My name is Elise and I’m 20 years old. I’ve always had a passion for makeup. Ever since I was little, I’ve loved beauty and art. I decided to combine the two and become a makeup artist. I view makeup as an art, because it’s whatever you make it. I enjoy learning more techniques each day , and sharing my passion with others. Being on the VCFS makeup team has allowed me to meet others with the same interests as me, and do what I love. I wouldn’t change it for anything!
Tia Gayle
Hi! My name is Tia and I am in my second year, Commerce. I joined VCFS this year because it was one of the highlights of my first year of university. I was able to enhance my interests in fashion and beauty while supporting an important cause. It’s a welcoming community where you are given the opportunity to be your authentic self and express your creativity. I’m looking forward to working on the makeup team again this year and being apart of such an amazing experience once again!
A big thank you to all our talented artists for their beautiful submissions!!
Stay tuned for the upcoming photoshoots where we’ll see more incredible looks, courtesy of our makeup and hair team! Essence is out now, but we still await the arrival of roots, kindred, strangers, adoration, nemesis and purpose.
